Pregnancy Diary: Third Trimester - 31 Weeks

3rd February 2017

At 31 weeks pregnant my little Pip is about the size of a romaine lettuce. She (yes, it's a girl!) is around 17.5 inches long and weighs over 3.5lbs now. Here's what's been going on during my 31st week of pregnancy with baby number three.

Baby Development

Pip's senses are all now up and running and she is continuing to put on weight as she gains more fat. Her immune system is just about ready too! Her brain and nerves are still developing and she is getting more flexible. Which I can tell from all the movement I can feel!

Body Changes

I mentioned in my last update that I was suffering with dermatitis from all the cleaning I had been doing. Thankfully the steroid cream has helped and my hands are healing. They just look a bit ugly at the moment! I look very much like I am carrying a basketball up my top and I've had a few people say I look like I'm about ready to give birth now. Gee thanks!

Pregnancy Symptoms

I'm getting a lot more Braxton Hicks now which I guess is down to the baby moving around so much. She doesn't really kick now, I suppose she doesn't have the room, but instead I feel big swirls and rolls. My linea nigra is very dark now and my bump is just covered in really blue veins! Fortunately no stretch marks still. I'm still getting a lot of heartburn and reflux, there's not much I can do other than eat little and often as it seems to be down to the pressure of the baby on my stomach.

Antenatal Appointments

My next appointment is with the midwife at 31 weeks and 4 days as the clinic is always on a Monday. I also have a scan at 32 weeks to check the position of my placenta, which so far is too low for a vaginal birth.

Looking Ahead

I have been sorting out cloth nappies for the baby and have got lots of absolutely adorable Close Pop-in Newborn nappies. Close Pop-ins are my favourite so I have high hopes for the newborn ones. They are so small and cute! We'll have disposable nappies too, because Ian doesn't like cloth nappies but also because they're convenient so I tend to use a mixture. Do you use cloth nappies or do you prefer disposables?
