Silent Sunday #5

Yesterday my Twitter feed was ablaze with people bickering over baby feeding. Apparently the "craze" for breastfeeding selfies [or brelfies] is putting pressure [or bressure] on mothers who cannot breastfeed or choose not to.

I am SO fed up with reading this sort of thing.

I breastfeed my baby. I breastfeed him because I can and because I want to and because I feel that it is best for MY baby. That's it. Three little reasons. I don't breastfeed him because I want to make anyone else feel bad. I don't breastfeed him to show off. I don't breastfeed him for any other reason you can think of.

anywayup 360 todder cup

Little N has reached the age where he has totally outgrown sippy cups and now prefers to use open cups. Drinking from an open cup is no problem at all, but preventing him from knocking his drinks over is! The anywayup 360° Toddler Cup* from Haberman offers the perfect solution to this by creating a toddler cup with an innovative circular valve system. This allows toddlers to drink from anywhere around the rim, like they would with an open cup, but without the worry of leaks or spills.

In 2014 a mum was searching for an amber teething anklet for her baby daughter. Unable to find an amber anklet that she liked, particularly with different coloured threads, she decided to create her own and Baltic Wonders was born. Since then, her business has grown month on month and lucky Baby J received his very own adorable amber teething anklet from Baltic Wonders to try.

Last week I posted the image below on Instagram. It was 78oz of expressed breastmilk that I was donating to the milk bank, after becoming a donor a couple of months ago. I was preparing the paperwork and thought it would be fun to share a quick snap. I got such a mix of reactions to the news that I donate my breastmilk to other babies.

Over the last month I’ve been trialling Skinade. Skinade is an award-winning anti-ageing collagen drink recommended by beauticians, dermatologists and cosmetic surgeons, and loved by celebrities!
Skinade say: “Drinking Skinade on a daily basis results in firmer, more even toned, hydrated, radiant, youthful and healthier looking skin. It reduces fine lines and wrinkles and repairs connective tissue, so you’ll also benefit from stronger, healthier and faster-growing hair and nails.”

As with his older brother, we decided to introduce Baby J to solid food around 6 months old. And once again we decided to follow the baby-led method of weaning. Although we hoped J would choose something healthier than pizza as his first food, which is what N chose!

babyled weaning beginning

J usually sat on my lap while I ate and as we approached 6 months old he began to reach for things on my plate. I let him take some of my food to see what he would do with it. Nothing actually reached his mouth though. He would hit it, wave it about, throw it. Anything but eat it. Which was fine by us!

Two days before he turned 6 months old, we went to my friend’s little boy’s first birthday party. As always, J was sitting on my lap while I sat down to eat. I had chosen egg sandwiches, cucumber sticks, houmous and grapes. I was well aware that any day now J might decide to eat something so I was very conscious of choosing food that would also be suitable first food for a baby!

Having a fruit-phobic 2 year old, I do rely on vitamin supplements to give me peace of mind that he isn’t missing out on essential nutrients. And thanks to I MUNE NURTURE, a healthy juice drink for children, I can get some goodness into him without him even realising.

i mune nurture drink

NURTURE is a 100% natural juice drink created for children aged 2+. Made from 50% fruit juice and 50% water, it contains no added sugars or sweeteners. The yellow drink is orange and pineapple while the red drink is strawberry and cherry.

Each 200ml drink pouch is enhanced with 100% of the 7 vitamins, zinc and Well-mune beta glucans that I MUNE recommend for children aged 2-5 years old:

- Vitamins B6, B9, B12, C, D and zinc contribute to the normal function of the immune system.
- Calcium and vitamin D are needed for normal bone growth and development.
- Wellmune WGP 100% natural beta glucan (comes from baker’s yeast) that has been clinically proven to strengthen key immune cells that help keep the body healthy.

It’s like a children’s multi-vitamin in a drink!

i mune nurture

NURTURE comes in a resealable, spill-proof aseptic pouch which makes it handy for taking out and about. Poor Little N couldn’t figure out how to drink from the pouch though so we had to cut it open and pour the drink into a cup instead. He is only 2.5 though, so I’m sure older children would have no trouble.

Little N really enjoyed both flavours of NURTURE juice drinks, blissfully unaware that there was a whole lot of vitamins going into him. This kid would happily live off cheese sandwiches for the rest of his life so at least I can sneak some goodness into him somehow!

I MUNE NURTURE is available nationally at Tesco, both in stores and online.

*I was sent the drinks to review, however all thoughts and opinion are my own.
