#NoCordsAttached Event with Dyson & Currys PC World

Last weekend I headed to the Dyson press office in London for a child-free afternoon at the exclusive Dyson and Currys PC World #NoCordsAttached event. The event was a chance to learn about Dyson’s history, the latest cordless Dyson V6 technology and have some hands-on fun with some cordless Dyson cleaners.

I met up with Vikki from Love From Mummy at South Kensington Underground station and we strolled to the Dyson press office, finding AK from My Buggy Junction along the way. We were greeted by the lovely Dyson folk along with some of the team from the Joe Blogs Network. There were canap├ęs and drinks while we mingled and I got chatting to some of the other brilliant bloggers I “know”; it was especially lovely to bump into Katie from Miss Enchanting and Heledd from Running In Lavender.

One of Dyson’s engineers, Matt Kelly, gave us a talk about Dyson’s history, which began 22 years ago with a frustrated James Dyson taking apart his vacuum cleaner and constructing cardboard cyclones to improve its design and efficiency. Dyson is now a global technology company with over 1,000 engineers worldwide who are constantly working to invent and improve Dyson machines. Matt then spoke about the Dyson Digital Motor V6, which sits at the core of all Dyson’s new digital slim vacuums. More than £250m has been spent in developing this patented motor which spins at up to 110,000 rpm, generating incredibly powerful suction to create the most powerful cordless vacuums.

Matt showed us two of the vacuums from the Dyson V6 range – the Dyson V6 Absolute and the Dyson V6 Total Clean, which is exclusive to Currys PC World. The main differences between the two were that the V6 Total Clean has a special soft roller cleaner head which can pick up large debris and fine dust simultaneously, as we would soon find out when we got to have fun making mess and cleaning it up again. And the V6 Absolute has a post motor filter than cleans so well that the air coming out of it is cleaner than the air you’re breathing right now. Amazing!

After Matt’s talk and demo we were let loose with cheerios, baking powder, rice and glitter. We made mess and created “art” using bespoke stencils. If you have a look for #NoCordsAttached on Twitter and Instagram you’ll find some of our creations! We then used the cordless Dyson cleaners to clean it all up again, getting the chance to test both the V6 Total Clean and the V6 Absolute.

I was super impressed with how powerful these lightweight machines were. Not one speck of baking powder remained thanks to the fluffy cleaner head of the Dyson V6 Total Clean, and the cordless accessories made light work of cleaning the hard wood, carpets, upholstery and stairs. It’s beginning to sound like Dyson just got us in to clean their offices, but honestly, it was so much fun!

Vikki and I also asked Matt to talk to us about the Dyson Robot. This is a vacuum cleaner that can operate itself, find its way around the room, remember where it has been and even take itself back to the docking station to recharge. It isn’t yet available in the UK but when it is, I need one!

It was a brilliant afternoon and I can’t wait to get my hands on my own cordless Dyson V6 Total Clean now. My current vacuum cleaner is so inadequate by comparison! If you head over to Currys you can check out their wide selection of cordless vacuum cleaners.

What do you think of the latest Dyson models? Would you go cordless?

  1. I have a cordless vacuum cleaner and it's brilliant :) I have Fibromyalgia which means I can't carry heavy vacuum cleaners upstairs and down. I don't have a dyson as that was out of my price bracket. Sounds good though :)

  2. I've always wanted a cordless but I always thought they can't be as powerful as one that runs off the mains. This sounds good.

  3. This sounds absolutely amazing and having no cord to trip over, something I do daily, would be an absolute blessing x

  4. I love Dyson cleaners they are simply the best. Alas mine broke earlier on this year ;(

  5. I locve the idea of a cordless hoover but have always worried about lack of power!

  6. Sounds like a great event. I love our old Dyson, they are amazing! x

  7. I would love a cordless dyson - they are just great. I just think having a cordless would be so much easier.

  8. More and more, we can see this cordless devices and this is so amazing! Technology never stops to surprise me! It definitely makes live easier!

  9. We have been proud owners of Dyson for a long time- no Henry hoovers for us- and a cordless one sounds so much better than a standard hoover.

  10. I want one!!! My hoover is so big and cumbersome and having wooden floors means I don't need more than a handheld. Looks amazing! x

  11. I keep seeing these and just dream, they are fantastic, but sadly out of my budget. We've just recently bought a Morphy Richards cordless, and I love it.

  12. I need a robot cleaner too! When are they coming to the UK?

  13. I'd love to have a cordless vacuum cleaner! Would make hoovering a lot easier

  14. I have never tried a cordless appliance - only my kettle! This looks like a fab event. Kaz x

  15. I would love a cordless vacuum cleaner but my other half is always cruel and tells me I can't have one :'( LOL

    Louise x

    With love from Lou
