Happy Days: Holiday Memories

Welcome to Happy Days!  Katy and I host this linky with the purpose of inspiring you to make the most of each day, no matter what you've been up to, and to find happiness in every day. It's where I share the little moments that have brought me joy.

We have just got back from our little family holiday where there was a distinct lack of WIFI so I am behind with commenting on your posts from last week, but I am catching up as I type! I had a car accident on the motorway on the way to the ferry, which put a bit of a downer on things but we still managed to have a great time.

So here's what has made me happy

• Holiday! We spent the week at the Whitecliff Bay resort on the Isle of Wight which is the same place we went last year. We had loved it so much last time that we just had to return this year, and we're already talking about going back next year!

• Firsts. Essie had her first experience of swimming, which she loved (she still hates baths though, work that one out!) and she had her first experience of feeling the sand between her toes. She was such a happy little thing on holiday, I can't wait to take her on more adventures.

• Food. I've been in food heaven this week! We've had chips on the beach, eaten out at some cool restaurants and cafes such as Mess Canteen in Cowes and Three Buoys in Ryde and had a BBQ. Best of all, I haven't had to cook all week! Diet starts Monday though haha!

• Downtime. I rarely get the chance to switch off in this online life of mine so it was good to be forced to by having no WIFI for the week. I didn't really take many photos this week either, choosing to just be in the moment with my family.

• Happy kids. The best thing about holidays when you're a parent is seeing your children happy and the kids have been full of joy this week. With sun-bleached hair and sun kissed skin, bellies full of ice-cream and candy floss, it's just the best feeling in the world.
.....

This weekend I am busy unpacking and washing all of our holiday laundry and getting Noah's things ready for the start of school on Monday!

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. Food is most definitely life! I would much prefer to spend my money on a great meal than a night out any day of the week! #happydayslinky

  3. Totally get you Sian. I only took a handful of pics on our hols because I was determined to stay in that proverbial moment! Sounds like you had a lovely time. And I only touched my 4G to stream music too! Thanks for hosting #happydayslinky

  4. We really wanted to visit the Isle of Wight this year but never got there. We had thought we could do it in a day but the tide times meant we would have had to set off at a rediculous time in the morning. We'll have to plan it better next year and stay over. I love the look on little ones faces when they feel the sand for the first time, so cute. Glad you had such a great time away (apart from the crash, that sounds horrible), and it's great to have a wifi break every now and then, forces you to be in the moment x

  6. Lovely. We had patchy wifi when we were on holiday and at first it was annoying, but then I realised that it was good to be away from it sometimes #HappyDaysLinky
