This month's Bostik Blogger box had an Easter theme. Easter falls pretty early this year, on 27th March, and I've come up with a really simple and quick craft idea using pipe cleaners and pom poms that your toddler or preschooler will love. As I write this post I can hear Little N downstairs playing with his finger puppets and singing "Old MacDonald" - cuuuute!

We love to go trick or treating at Halloween and where we live people show they're taking part by putting decorations in their windows and on their doors, so we have made a spooky Halloween door hanging decoration. October's Bostik Blogger craft box has a Bonfire Night theme and we were sent lots of fab craft materials to come up with a simple craft tutorial. I knew that most of the other bloggers would be coming up with firework-related crafts, so we came up with something a little different! August's Bostik Blogger craft box has a back to school theme and we were sent lots of fab craft materials to come up with a simple craft tutorial. Little N is only starting nursery school next month so while it's not proper school it's still a big deal! He will wear a proper little school uniform like the children attending the infant school and most days the nursery children get to play with reception children. I could probably do it in a minute if I did it on my own, but with Little N's assistance it took us more like five minutes.
To make a toddler-friendly flaming torch you will need:
- Several pieces of orange and yellow tissue paper
- a cardboard cone

Here's how we made it
- Using the wide end of the Bostik Fine and Wide Glu Pen put a small amount of glu in the middle of the first sheet of tissue paper and stick the next sheet to it. Repeat until all of the sheets are stuck together.
- Using the fine end of the Bostik Fine and Wide Glu Pen draw a wiggly line of glu around the inner edge of the cardboard cone.
- Bunch the tissue paper together and stick it to the glu on the cardboard cone.
- Once it has all dried your flaming torch is ready to play with!

June's Bostik Blogger craft box had a really obvious theme. As soon as we opened the box Little N said, "oh look mummy, it's a jungle!" I took one look at the contents and knew exactly what we were going to create: a jungle theme lollipop stick puppet show. A great craft idea for all these rainy days we've been having so far this month! If you want to see last month's weather themed craft idea you can find it here.
Little N loves animals, colours and counting so this craft is the ideal way to incorporate some learning in those areas. The lollipop stick puppets can be slotted into the background along any of the sides, which are open thanks to only being stuck down at the corners.
To make a jungle lollipop stick puppet show you will need
- A4 piece of card (we used a glittery piece as it's a more interesting texture)
- A4 piece of animal print paper
- A4 piece of animal print paper
- foam animal shapes
- lollipop sticks
- feathers, buttons and gems for decorating
- lollipop sticks

- scissors
Here's how we made it
- Using the Bostik White Glu stick feathers, buttons and gems to the card to create an interesting background. You could draws some trees if you like. As my boys are only little, sticking things was easier for them.
- Cut a rectangle out of the middle of the animal patterned paper, leaving a 1 inch border all the way around.
- Apply a Bostik Glu Dot to each corner of the paper and secure it to the decorated card.
- Using more Bostik Glu Dots stick a foam animal shape to each lollipop stick.
- You are now ready to play! Slide the lollipop stick puppets into the side of the frame and move them about to create your little ones very own jungle adventure!

On Sunday night Baby J had me up half the night - I wish I was exaggerating - so yesterday we had a quiet day at home. When J went for his nap, Little N and I got the craft stuff out and had a go at some of the Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom Festive Fun activities. There are lots of fun things you can do, such as making Christmas cards and crackers, a letter to Santa, a Christmas hot chocolate recipe and a dot-to-dot Santa's sleigh activity.

On Sunday night Baby J had me up half the night - I wish I was exaggerating - so yesterday we had a quiet day at home. When J went for his nap, Little N and I got the craft stuff out and had a go at some of the Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom Festive Fun activities. There are lots of fun things you can do, such as making Christmas cards and crackers, a letter to Santa, a Christmas hot chocolate recipe and a dot-to-dot Santa's sleigh activity.
Hasn’t June has gotten off to a disappointing start? Instead of warm, sunny days spent at the park or the farm, we’ve been stuck indoors thanks to the wind and rain. The lovely people at Sykes Cottages have saved me from being driven up the wall by a bored toddler though, by sending us everything we needed to make some fun finger puppets using their simple handmade craft guide.

Being a parent at Christmas is the ultimate feeling. Watching N’s face as he opened his presents, so full of intrigue when we put up our tree, it was just amazing. I love Christmas again!
♥ I took part in a Secret Santa with my mummy group. I got some awesome socks, a fab eyeshadow palette and a parenting book that has been on my “must read” list for a while. We did a Smile Exchange in the summer, which is basically the same idea but just not Christmas. I love putting together parcels for my swapees and love the element of surprise and anticipation in receiving a gift.
♥ I put our Christmas tree up as a surprise for the mister while he was at work. I even made my own decorations out of slices of dried oranges. I also made some gingerbread men out of salt dough and a salt dough print of N’s hand. The mister was really happy and it made me feel all warm and fuzzy :)
♥ I had already done my nails ready for Christmas but felt that Rudolph was looking a little lonely, so added Santa to keep him company!
♥ I had planned to do all my baking on Christmas Eve but I’d gone to bed ill so I had it ALL to do on Christmas Day. One of the things I baked were these amazing chocolate chunk cookies using a recipe from Crepes of Wrath. OMG they were amazing. I will definitely be making them again. Maybe as soon as I’ve finished writing this post...
♥ This Christmas was the first year ever that I have cooked Christmas dinner. I’ve always been to someone else’s house for – usually my parents’ – but I have now graduated to “proper grown-up” status as I have done a full-on Christmas spread for five people all by myself. Okay, so it was two adults, two children and a toddler, but hey, I still deserve a high-five as I was in the kitchen for pretty much the entire day. Apart from when we ate dinner, I didn’t sit down until gone 9pm. I well and truly earned that glass of wine!
