Mini Style: Blade & Rose Summer Butterfly Set

I first discovered Blade & Rose several years ago, when my eldest son was a baby and I was looking for clothes that would fit over his cloth nappies. It is a family-run British clothing brand which is now stocked worldwide after starting in 2010. Their classic knitted leggings with brightly coloured spots and stripes were a huge hit with cloth bum mums thanks to their stretchy, brushed cotton being perfect for fitting over nappies.

Just before we went on holiday Essie was sent a Summer Butterfly Set to feature, which includes a short sleeved top and shorts made from the same soft, stretchy fabric, but in a shorter style for warmer days. The knitted brushed cotton is made with 5% spandex which gives the fabric a decent stretch but doesn't lose its shape. The striped shorts fit perfectly over her nappies and look so adorable on her chubby little legs. The set has a butterfly across the front of the top and - just like the classic leggings - on the bum of the shorts!

In the last couple of weeks Essie has mastered the art of rolling in both directions and loves to spend time rolling around on the floor. It's important that baby clothes are comfortable but especially now she is getting more wriggly and mobile! Her Blade & Rose set is soft against her skin and keeps her comfy while she plays. The clothes hold their colour well, but I would recommend gentle cycles for washing to minimise bobbling which knitted fabrics are prone to in my experience.

Once summer is over Essie can still rock her shorts with some tights underneath and a long-sleeved top! There are eight different styles in the Summer Sets collection, they cost £19.95 and you can find them here. Which one is your favourite?

With thanks to Blade & Rose for sending us a Butterfly Summer Set.
