Days Out: Willows Activity Farm Santa Spectacular 2017

A few weeks ago I shared an amazing giveaway for the Santa Spectacular event at Willows Activity Farm in Hertfordshire, and last week we got to go ourselves! After the snowfall Noah's school announced it would be closed, so what better way to spend a snow day than with a magical visit to see Santa!

This festive season, Santa Spectacular at Willows Activity Farm is the only event for families looking for a truly magical day out. The event is running until 24 December and visitors can enjoy the ultimate festive experience in St. Albans, Hertfordshire.

Noah had only just got over chicken pox a few days before and was still feeling slightly under the weather, so our annual trip to see Santa was a bit of a flying visit this year. There is so much to see and do on this magical day out, but this year we stuck to just a few of the activities. We still had an amazing day out!

We decided to visit Santa in his spectacular grotto first of all as the boys were bouncing with excitement. They have been looking forward to this visit for weeks and couldn't wait to tell him all about our Christmas plans. Essie was fascinated by his beard and kept giving it a tug, fortunately Santa didn't mind and was quite taken with her. We had our photo taken by the elf and then Santa gave each of the boys a golden key to his Toy Shop, which was our next stop.

In Santa's Toy Shop there are hundreds of presents to choose from, the shop is literally stacked from floor to ceiling with amazing gifts. We always spend such a long time in the shop because it's so hard to choose. Children can pick from books, dressing up clothes, Play-Doh, trains, cars, dolls, puzzles - you name it, they've got it. This year Noah chose a skateboard while Jude chose a doctor's kit, something he loves to play with at toddler group and has wanted for a long time.

Next we went to the Create-a-Cuddle workshop where the boys each got to make their very own cuddly reindeer to take home, complete with adoption certificate and a box to carry them in. They love doing this every year and we have quite the collection of cuddly toys that they've made so far. Then the boys wrote letters to Santa which they posted at Willows, and a few days later received a letter back from the big man in red himself!

By this point Noah was starting to feel tired so we decided to end our day at Willows Farm there. It was a shame not to be able to watch the 3D film this year or go on the festive wood ride or go skating on the ice rink, but the children still loved their time at the Santa Spectacular and we came home laden with goodies and happy memories. It's our favourite Christmas experience by far!
