90 Day Spending Ban

My 90 day spending ban came to an end last week! I had one simple rule, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here, Update #2 here, Update #3 here, Update #4 here, Update #5 here and Update #6 here.

In the 90 days I used up 30 products but by raiding my stash I only ended up needing to buy 2 new products because I already have so much! The total saved during the ban is a massive £272.13 – I know it’s only a hypothetical saving based on the value of the products I picked out of my stash, but still it gives a good idea of how you could end up saving if you use up what you’ve already got!

It’s actually been fun doing the spending ban as I’ve discovered products I had completely forgotten I’d bought; for example, I found a brand new Clinique lipstick in the shade Sweet Violet which is so pretty, I just can’t remember buying it and had no idea it was there!

Doing this spending ban has certainly changed my shopping mentality; even though it’s over I will still think “do I really need this?” whenever I’m tempted to buy the latest must-have or give in to special offers and deals. Whether that mentality lasts or not is another matter!

Day 88! So close to the end of the spending ban! Just the one simple rule, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here, Update #2 here, Update #3 here, Update #4 here and Update #5 here.

Since the last update I have got through a couple of shower gels, a couple of body scrubs, a body lotion and a facial moisturiser!

I raided my stash and picked out a Korres Guava Little Shower Gel that I got in February’s Birchbox. It was only little so ran out quickly, so I also picked Nivea Pearl and Beauty Shower Cream Oil that I got in a Christmas gift set. I picked out Soap & Glory The Breakfast Scrub which was also a Christmas gift. I had a second tube of Yon-Ka Pamplemousse from a giveaway so cracked that open and I had a bottle of E45 Nourish & Restore Lotion arrive in the post this week so that was great timing!

I had been using Soap & Glory Eye Maintenance but I really didn’t like it, so it went in the bin. I bought Boots Time Delay Youth Maintain Anti-Ageing Replenishing Eye Cream. It was on offer for £5.49 and I still managed to save £46.50 this week!

How are you getting on with the spending ban? Looking forward to the end?

Today is day 77 of the 90 Day Spending Ban, I can’t believe the end is so close! I have just one simple rule, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here, Update #2 here, Update #3 here and Update #4 here.

I’ve got through quite a lot in the last few weeks. Shampoo, conditioner, hand wash, concealer, mascara, body butter, body scrub and hand cream.

From my stash I picked out a Lush Candy Cane Soap (from a Christmas gift set), YSL Touche Eclat, YSL Shocking Mascara, L’Occitane Verbena Body Lotion (from a gift set I got after having my baby), Lush Sandy Santa Sugar Scrub (also from a Christmas gift set) and Taaj Creme Mains Delhicates Hand Cream (I got this in the January Birchbox).

I had no shampoo or conditioner left in my stash so picked up some from the Naked Smooth range, and luckily for me my other half paid for them so I didn’t break my spending ban! Well, not for those anyway. I haven’t painted my nails since my baby arrived in November (!) as I know they wouldn’t get time to dry before I need to change a nappy. So I treated myself to a bottle of Seche Vite. I did use my Boots Advantage Card points though! Even with this little spend I have saved £50.25 this update; the total saved so far is £225.63!

Let me know how your spending bans are going!

I’ve been on the 90 Day Spending Ban for 47 days now so over half-way, woohoo! I have just one simple rule, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here, Update #2 here and Update #3 here.

I haven’t got through that much stuff since my last update, just shampoo, conditioner, hand cream, hair oil and handwash. I have picked out miniatures of L’Occitane Verbena Shampoo and Conditioner that I got in a gift set after my baby was born and a small bottle of Molton Brown Rose Granati handwash from a Christmas gift set. I also used some samples of Aveda Smooth Infusion Shampoo and Conditioner that came in a She Said Beauty box last year. I picked out a Crabtree & Evelyn India Hicks Hand Therapy. And finally I picked out a bottle of Ojon Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum that was part of my prize from Kym’s giveaway. The total saved this time round is £36.07 bringing the total saved so far to £175.38.
I did get something new though, I got an Eyebrow Palette from HD Brows in Vamp. However I still didn’t break the spending ban as I bought it with a voucher that I got for my birthday last year!

28 days into my spending ban and I still haven’t bought any make-up, hair or beauty products. Go me! As per the simple rule I set myself, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here and Update #2 here.

Since the last spending ban update I finished off a hand wash, a cleanser, a night serum & cream, a perfume and a shower gel.

I’ve dug into my stash and found a small bottle of Molton Brown Naran Ji hand wash that I got in a set for Christmas, a bottle of Kipos Cleansing Milk which came in an All About Beauty beauty box, a bottle of Antipodes Divine Face Oil (LOVE this stuff) which came in the Selfridges beauty box, a half-full bottle of YSL Safarienne that I bought last year and a bottle of Molton Brown Coco De Mer Shower Gel that I also got for Christmas.

By using all of these products from my stash instead of buying new products I’ve saved £63.33 (I conservatively guessed that the Kipos Cleansing Milk is worth about £5.00 as I actually have no idea how much it costs to buy) bringing the total saved so far to £139.31. Crazy!

I’m loving the spending ban as I’m finding lots of products that I had forgotten about. How are you getting on with your spending ban?

So I’ve now been on my spending ban for 14 days in total and still haven’t bought any make-up, hair or beauty products. In fact in the last 7 days I’ve not bought anything at all despite using up a couple of products! As per the simple rule I set myself, I cannot buy something new if I have that type of product already in my stash. You can read Update #1 here.

My first Birchbox beauty box (which replaced Joliebox and is something I am allowing myself during the spending ban) arrived last week and certainly helped curb the shopping crave. In the last 7 days I have finished off a shampoo and a moisturiser. In my cupboards I had a half-full bottle of Organic Care Systems Aqua Boost Shampoo and a brand new tube of Yon-Ka Pamplemousse Protective and Vitalizing Face Cream so by using those I have saved a huge £39.75 this week, bringing the total saved so far to £75.98! I also got a voucher through the post for a free Starbucks coffee which I enjoyed yesterday – win!

I hope you’re doing well on your spending ban if you’re doing one.
