Birchbox teamed up with Habitat for their March edition to incentivise us to refresh things at home. The box is full of little treats to make you feel fabulous.

Benefit Roller Lash Mascara (3g) Last month I received an email from Birchbox offering me the chance to choose which of the three Benefit mascaras I wanted, of course I chose this one as it’s new and I have never tried it! The other choices were Bad Gal which I don’t like and They’re Real which I love, so I am excited to give this one a whirl and see how it rates.

Philip Kingsley Smooth Cream (20ml) I’m kicking myself for not updating my beauty profile as I recently had my hair chopped so Birchbox may have had another Philip Kingsley product that might suit my current hair better. I kind of feel that the Smooth Cream would have been great for my long hair but I’m not so sure it is going to be good for my hair now. I do love the Philip Kingsley range though so it certainly won’t go to waste!

Serenity Skincare Dead Sea Bath Salt (200g) These are 100% natural sea salts that can be used in the bath or massaged directly into the skin. Baths are a very rare luxury these days so these will make a great exfoliator in my daily shower instead.

Janjira Argan Oil Eye Cream I’m not sure how bit the sample is as the tube doesn’t say, at a guess it looks like it’s 5-10ml. It contains a nourishing blend of argan oil and shea butter to replenish the delicate eye area. Good timing as I am just about to finish my current eye cream!

Catherine Malandrino Style de Paris perfume The vial doesn't say how much it contains so I’d guess it’s about 2-5ml. It’s a really floral, fruity scent, not one I’d usually pick but I quite like it.

♥ Jotter ♥ I think this little pad is really sweet! It will be handy to have in my bag as I am forever scribbling notes on the back of receipts.

A Perfect Heritage by Penny Vincenzi (chapter sampler) I have read and enjoyed a few Penny Vincenzi novels over the years, they are very addictive so I am sure that once I have read this chapter I will be downloading the full book.

This month’s box is a real mixed bag, I think the Benefit mascara will be the favourite for many people. What do you think?

If you like the look of it and want to sign up, please feel free to use my referral link: http://birchbox.co.uk/?raf=674. You’ll get 50 Birchbox points, equivalent to £5! The box costs £10 per month plus p+p.

It’s been a while since I last had a good raid through my stash. I’ve been running out of things here and there but recently I ran out of several products so had a good rummage and found this little lot.

steam cream balm balm dr organic philip kingsley

Now the weather is getting warmer it’s nice to use a lighter moisturiser during the day and STEAMCREAM fits the bill perfectly.

At night I either use a night cream or use a serum/oil with my day cream. I picked out this Coryse Salome night cream sample that came in a recent Birchbox.

I’m not a huge fan of rollerball type eye products but this Dr Organic Dead Sea Mineral Eye Rescue Rollerball came in my advent calendar and now is a good a time as any to try it out!

I get through so many lipbalms and this one from Balm Balm has been waiting patiently to be used. It’s rose geranium and smells lovely.

My hair is in desperate need of an intensive treatment, and a cut to be honest, so I was very happy to find a tube of my all-time favourite Philip Kingsley Elasticizer hiding in the drawer!

Birchbox – May Beauty Box

Birchbox Harpers Bazaar

Woohoo, my August beauty box from Birchbox arrived today! I’m so happy as it usually seems like I’m one of the last to get theirs and this month I think I might be one of the first!

Summer Nights is the theme of the August beauty box from Birchbox and it’s a special collaboration with InStyle magazine; here’s what I got in mine:

Bluemandarines SkinLine Energetic Cellular Cream A light moisturising cream packed with peptides to brighten, refresh and protect the skin. Yes please, this is right up my street. I got a 10ml tube.

Molton Brown Ylang-Ylang Body Wash I love Molton Brown, they’re a British brand with fabulously luxurious products. This smells heavenly. I got a 30ml bottle.

LAQA & Co. Lil’ Lip Pencil in Ring of Fire I saw a spoiler ages ago showing what was going to be in the box and I was really excited about this chunky lip pencil. Luckily I have received the colour most people were lusting after, a gorgeous bright red! I got a 2g pencil.

Gerda Spillmann Hydro Pearls This is the second Gerda Spillman product I’ve had from Birchbox; the last was a foundation that was wayyyy too dark. At least I’ll be able to use this one! It’s a 10ml tube.

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer I LOVE this stuff! I’ve mentioned it a couple of times here and here. My hair is in need of a good conditioning treatment so I’ll be using this tomorrow! I got a 40ml tube.

Inner Me Lustrous Locks Vitamin Complex This is a ‘lifestyle extra’ and it’s funny that they should include this as I have just cancelled my monthly supply of postnatal vitamins and was wondering what I should take from now on instead. I got 28 tablets which is two weeks’ worth.

Birchbox Gel Eye Mask This is a ‘beauty extra’ and again it’s something I have been in need of. I have a baby. Puffy eyes galore. Enough said!

There is also a special subscription offer for InStyle magazine – 12 issues for £11. Head to www.instyle.co.uk/birchbox to find out more.

So that’s everything I got, 7 products in total which is loads and I think this might be one of my favourite boxes so far! It’s a really good mix of products, a real head-to-toe box.

If you like the look of the Birchbox beauty box and want to sign up, please feel free to use my referral link: http://birchbox.co.uk/?raf=674. The box costs £10 per month plus p+p.

Another month has flown by and once again I’ve amazed myself with how many products I’ve managed to finish!

October Empties

Shu Uemura Classic High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil: I got this little bottle in my Selfridges Advent Calendar last year but only just got round to using it. I know lots of people are like “this stuff is amazing” and yes I agree it does a good job at getting every last scrap of make-up off BUT take look at the ingredients. Paraffinum liquidum. Mineral oil. For what you pay for a bottle of this cleansing oil they can afford to use decent stuff in it, not a petrol by-product.

Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil: I started using this when I got to seven months pregnant, prior to that I was using Nivea Q10 Plus Firming Oil and Derma Mum. I almost ended up using Bio Oil until Caroline pointed out that Bio Oil is mineral oil and recommended the Clarins instead. It’s not cheap, Feel Unique sell it for £33.30 for 100ml, but the bottle only ran out two weeks ago and I’ve got to term with not one single stretch mark. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to any pregnant women or anyone wanting to prevent stretch marks.

Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite: I LOVE this stuff. I’ve written about it here, it was also in my August Empties, I was even featured in Prima Baby magazine raving about it. It is just the most perfect body lotion for me, not too heavy, absorbs well, sorts my poorly skin out and smells yummy. I can’t see myself ever falling out of love with it!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer: This product does wonders for my hair. It’s a pre-shampoo treatment, you leave it on your barnet for 20 minutes and then just shampoo and condition as normal. My hair always feels amazing after I’ve used it. It’s quite an expensive product so I don’t buy it often, but whenever I do I always end up wishing I was just a little bit richer so I could afford to buy it more often.

STEAMCREAM: I posted about this the other day, you can read more here. I love this moisturiser and will be buying a full-size tin once I finish getting through the rest of my moisturiser stash!

The Body Shop Carrot Moisture Cream: This was a nice enough moisturiser, but I didn’t feel like it did anything special for my skin so won’t be buying it.

The Body Shop Shea Body Butter: I’ve had this in my cupboard since Christmas but only just got round to using it. It’s a super rich body butter, it leaves your skin feeling super soft and moisturised but it’s just so heavy! It takes an age to absorb so don’t put this on if you are in a rush to go out. Especially if you plan to wear skinny jeans. You won’t be able to pull them up!

Palmers Cocoa Butter Massage Lotion for Stretch Marks: This was a sample I got through the post, you get all sorts when you’re pregnant! This felt quite nice and absorbed well but obviously being such a small sample I’d have no idea how good it would be against stretch marks.

Palmers Cocoa Butter Tummy Butter for Stretch Marks: Another pregnancy sample received in the post! I quite liked the way this felt on my skin and it smelt so good, not the traditional cocoa butter smell but a little more floral. Again I’m not sure how effective it would be against stretch marks as it was only a tiny sample.

Imperial Leather Skinkind Hydrate Shower Gel: I’ve trying to use up all my sample sachets and came across these three sachets of shower gel. They smelt quite lovely and were gentle on my skin so I’d probably buy a full-size bottle.

Yardley Peony Luxury Body Wash: I got this in the March beauty box from Joliebox. It’s a lovely smelling body wash – it smells of peonies funnily enough! – but it’s quite a big bottle and to be honest I was glad when it ran out as the fragrance started to become too much for me.

Vinies Luminous Skin Mask: I think this came in a Boudoir Prive box so that shows how I long I’ve had it! It’s an all-natural face mask which exfoliates and brightens your skin. Whilst I love the results, I don’t like the smell which seems to linger on your skin for a few days after. Shame.

Superdrug Dry Shampoo: I don’t really see the point of all this different fragrances in dry shampoos as ultimately they all have that same dusty smell! I don’t get through as much dry shampoo since I’ve been on maternity leave as I have more time in the mornings now, but I still do have the odd lazy day! I really rate Superdrug dry shampoos, they work really well and sometimes they are on that crazy “buy 1, get 2 free” offer so worth looking out for.

bareMinerals Purifying Facial Cleanser and bareMinerals Purely Nourishing Moisturiser: I got these sachets a few months ago and typically of me it got lost with all my other sachets. I wasn’t really impressed with the cleanser to be honest as I didn’t feel like my skin was left thoroughly clean. The moisturiser wasn’t hydrating enough for my skin, I ended up having to apply a second layer. This is the good thing about samples; you can find out what works and what doesn’t without potentially wasting money on full-size products.

Let me know if you’ve used any of the products here or if you’ve got an Empties post for me to read!

I’ve not done a post on any beauty boxes for a while, but the February Feel Unique Beauty Box (£9.95) has blown me away so I just had to tell you about it. The theme is “Fall In Love...” and it’s a real head to toe package full of scrummy, high-end brands.

Elemis Exotic Lime and Ginger Hand and Body Wash (100ml)

I adore Elemis products, love love love them, yet generally find them too expensive to buy for everyday use. This stuff normally costs £18.40 for 300ml. It’s a gorgeous fresh scent; I expected it to smell quite zingy since its lime and ginger, but it’s much more subtle than that. In a nutshell, it smells like a spa. I can’t wait to use this -  I won’t want to get out of the shower!

Philip Kingsley Elasticizer (40ml)

I have tried and loved this product before; it’s a fantastic treatment and makes such a difference to the condition of my hair but at £22.30 for 150ml it’s another one of those products that I can’t really afford on a regular basis. So you can imagine my delight at seeing this in the box! You put it on your hair for 15-20 minutes and then shampoo and condition as normal. Trust me, it’s brilliant.

Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (10ml)

Another product for me to get excited about as I seem to be getting a little bit obsessed with oils recently! I’m thinking about saving this multi-tasking gem to take on holiday with me as it can be used on the face, body and hair, it can also be used on kiddies AND it smells beautiful! It has that holiday smell, the scent of warm sandy skin and evening blossoms. Heaven! At £17.00 for 50ml I can see myself buying a full sized bottle.

Decleor Phytopeel Natural Exfoliating Cream (15ml)

This is a smooth creamy exfoliator rather than the “gritty” kind that I am used to. Thinking about it, I’m not sure if I have ever used any Decleor products before. It smells similar to Elemis skincare – that slightly floral, slightly herbal sort of smell. I’m a bit of a fan of exfoliation so I’m really looking forward to trying this. The usual price is £23.40 for 50ml so it’s another high end product.

Leighton Denny High Performance Nail Colour in Steel Appeal (4.6ml)

This isn’t the sort of colour I would normally go for, but that’s what I love about these beauty boxes, they force you to broaden your horizons. The shade is an shimmering, inky grey-black and applies like a dream. I’ve applied 2 coats in the photo, and whilst I’d need to wear it a few days to be able to form a proper opinion, so far I’m impressed. The price for a 12ml full size bottle is £11.00.

With these beauty boxes you’ll often find a perfume sample, and this month it was Kokorico by Jean-Paul Gaultier. An interesting move by Feel Unique, as I was sure this was a men’s fragrance as I’d read about it on The Chap Blog. Oh well, the boyfriend likes it!

I think this may just be Feel Unique’s best box yet. There was no hype (that I saw) leading up to this box which made it all the more special when I opened it, I was truly surprised and pleased with what I received this month.

Did you receive this month’s box? What colour nail polish did you get?
