Sanctuary
sanctuary mum to be stretch mark oil

I recently ran out of my beloved Clarins Tonic Body Oil which I had been massaging into my ever-growing bump on a daily basis in a bid to prevent stretch marks and to ease the itching that comes as the skin grows. Luckily I have some wonderful friends who got me a gift set from the Sanctuary Mum to Be range, so for the last couple of weeks I have been using Sanctuary Mum to Be Stretch Mark Oil.

This midwife-approved oil contains lots of nourishing oils to hydrate and smooth the skin. It is free from parabens and SLS and, more importantly for me, free from methylisothiazolinone. Amongst the ingredients are tamaru oil to prevent stretch marks, borage oil and rosehip seed oil to maintain suppleness, and wheatgerm oil, coconut oil and sweet almond oil to provide a moisture boost.

It has a subtle sweet natural scent which fades once the oil has sunk into the skin. It is easily absorbed and leaves my skin feeling soft and replenished, and relieved! I’ve been using it daily after my morning shower, as I did with the Clarins oil, but unlike with the Clarins oil I am often finding the need to apply it again before bed. I’m not sure if this is because it isn’t as nourishing or because my skin is simply being stretched more with this pregnancy. Either way, I’m a still stretch mark free zone!

It’s a lovely oil and one I would recommend to others. I would buy it again but with only a few weeks left of this pregnancy I don’t think I am going to need to repurchase it! You can buy it at Boots where it costs £10.25 for 150ml, making it a brilliantly priced alternative to the Clarins oil or the less natural but hugely popular Bio-Oil.

I’ve been busy this week so my August Empties post is a little bit late…

August Empties

YSL Shocking MascaraThis is my second favourite mascara, behind Lancome Hypnose. It seems to dry out quite quickly though which is annoying, but I love how it looks.

Weleda Almond CleanserI had a small sample tube of this which had a couple of days worth of cleanser. It felt lovely and gentle but didn’t feel as thorough as oil or balm cleansers and I had to use a separate eye make-up remover as well. I won’t be buying it as prefer other cleansers.

Sanctuary Active Reverse 30 Day Thermal Transformation Mask – That’s such a long name for a mask! I really liked this, you can read my review here.

Inlight Organic Face CleanserAn absolutely gorgeous cleanser, I loved using this. My review is here.

L’Oreal Elvive Full Restore Replenishing MasqueI’ve used a sample of this before. It’s okay; not amazing, but does an alright job at leaving my hair feeling detangled.

Gentle Green Soothing CreamBaby N used this more than me to be honest! It’s a brilliant product, very effective. My full review can be found here.

Nivea Soft Moisturising CreamThis is a good cream for the body, I wouldn’t use it on my face though. It smells just like holidays, it has that classic “Nivea suncream” smell. A total bargain too!

Lancome Teint Miracle FoundationThis little bottle came in the Selfridges Advent Calendar I got the Christmas before last; amazingly enough the shade was perfect for me! It’s a nice foundation, I would buy it again but only if my preferred foundation (Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua!) wasn’t available.

Dead Sea Spa Magik Silky Smooth Body LotionI have had a few tubes of this stuff now and I keep changing my mind. I would probably never buy it as there are other lotions that appeal to me more.

Derma E samplesI love the cleanser from this range. I needed a separate eye make-up remover but otherwise it’s very thorough. The moisturisers I didn’t love as much, I doubt I’d buy them!

In my March beauty box from Birchbox I received a single-use sample of the Sanctuary Active Reverse Facial 30 Day Thermal Transformation Mask. I used it a couple of weeks ago and was amazed with the results.

This two-step mask contains peptides and hyaluronic acid to plump and repair the skin’s structure and give a tauter, firmer appearance. You apply a layer of the Peptide Transformation Serum first, then apply a layer of the Thermal Rose Clay Mask, which smells lovely. Straight away I could feel a warming sensation and I left the mask to work for 15 minutes.

After removing the mask I looked like I had just had a full-on facial! My skin was literally glowing, looked more radiant and felt so much softer and smoother. I am definitely going to be purchasing the full-sized treatment very soon – imagine how I’ll look after following through on the full 30 days!

Have you tried this and did you get visible results?

I’ve run out of a few products but the 90 Day Spending Ban that I did a few months ago has left me with some good habits. Rather than going out shopping I’ve raided my stash and found these!

Sanctuary mask Lancome Hypnose Weleda almond cleanser Simple toner RMK cleanser balm

I’ve been a bit slack with skincare recently and it is starting to show, so I’ll give this Sanctuary Active Reverse Facial 30 Day Thermal Transformation Mask a go ♥ My YSL Shocking Mascara has been feeling really dry but I’ve been desperately trying to eke it out. It has finally given up but luckily I had a tube of my favourite Lancome Hypnose mascara in my stash ♥ I’ll be using this Simple Soothing Facial Toner for the sake of it really, I’m usually far too lazy for toners but I got this at Christmas so I may as well use it! ♥ I’ve picked a few cleansers because the Derma E Vitamin A Glycolic Cleanser is a one-use sachet and the Weleda Almond Soothing Cleansing Lotion is only 10ml so won’t last long. Once they’re both used I’ll use the RMK Cleansing Balm.

What do you think of my choices?

There seems to a few mixed feelings on this month’s beauty box from Birchbox. I was really pleased with the items I received; well, there was one that I wasn’t overly excited about.

Role Models is the theme of the March beauty box from Birchbox; here’s what I got in mine:

RMK Cleansing Balm – This rose-scented balm smells amazing! I’ve never tried anything from RMK before but this seems a great product to start with. I love a good cleanser. This is a 25g tub.

Molton Brown Valbonne Perfume – Molton Brown create some of the loveliest fragrances around. This 2ml sample has notes of bergamot, orange flower, mimosa, rose, orris, vetiver and leather. It smells quite masculine at first but after it settled it’s much nicer.

Laura Geller Inkwell Waterproof Gel Liner – I received this eyeliner in black. I’m more excited about the brush to be honest; I think it’s genius having the brush in the lid! I’ve never tried a gel liner before, I hope I’m not useless. This is 2.5g.

La Sultane de Saba Body Lotion with Argan oil – This is the product I’m not that impressed by. I just don’t get on with argan oil in skincare. I love it for my hair, just not my skin! This is a 30ml bottle.

Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream – This smells like Carmex and feels a little like it too! I don’t think I’d use this on my face as it’s quite thick. It works nicely on lips though. This is a 3g tube.

Sanctuary Active Reverse Facial 30 Day Thermal Transformation Mask – This is a ‘beauty extra’; a two-step mask that promises results after one use. There is a single-use sachet of each step (3.5ml and 7ml) so we’ll see if it delivers.

Lindt Lindor Mini Heart Tin – This is a ‘lifestyle extra’. I scoffed the lot straight away! Yummy!

Apart from the body lotion I love my box. What do you think of this month’s box? If you like it and want to sign up, please feel free to use my referral link: http://birchbox.co.uk/?raf=674. The box costs £10 per month plus p+p.
