Happy Days: Quiet Winter & New Beginnings

"The best way to pay for a lovely moment is to enjoy it"

Welcome to Happy Days! Katy has been running this linky for a long while now and I am thrilled to be co-hosting with her. This linky is to inspire you to make the most of each day, no matter what you've been up to, and find happiness in every day.

Quiet Winter & New Beginnings

I'm going to cheat a little here because I just have to talk about Christmas and that was obviously more than a week ago! This year was the first year I've spent Christmas Day at home and not had to travel anywhere. Ian and I decided that it was time to start our own family traditions, and Christmas is complicated enough with a blended family let alone adding in extra visits. We went out for a lovely meal on Christmas Eve and spent Christmas Day at home with all of the children before my two stepchildren went to see their mum. Boxing Day was spent at home in our pajamas, it was great to relax!

Ian has been off work since Christmas Eve afternoon and has actually managed to switch off from work mode. Usually when he has a day off he is still glued to his phone on work emails. He has been glued to his phone still, but at least it has been social media not work things, so he has been in a happier mood!

It's made me happy to have had so much quality time together as a family as it's something we don't get a lot of. We've had a lot of relaxed, slow days at home, been out for a few meals together and have been exploring the great outdoors. New Years Eve was spent at home with a takeaway and a bottle of champagne, that actually didn't get open as we were too tired by the time midnight rolled around, but we were happy and that's what matters.

The new year is bringing a lot of change for us. For a start Little N is joining preschool next week which is a massive milestone. Huge. He has spent every day of his life with me, except for the night that J was born, so I'm excited but a little anxious. Hopefully in next week's Happy Days I will have positive things to report about preschool!

Over to you...

  16. I have a blended family as well and for us it's been difficult coordinating with everyone especially since all the kids are big now!!! We cooked at home ... And it was open door all day. No pressure, no hurt feelings just love and fun. For those that didn't come thru missed out!

  18. I don't think I could ever imagine having to travel on Christmas Day... The furthest we go as a family is to my partners parents up the road and we walk that so it's just like a Christmas walk. Good luck being co-host and enjoy!
