Mama Style: Bo & Bel Teething Necklace

I'm really enjoying getting back into fashion. You know, regular fashion. Not maternity wear, not mumsy comfy stuff, but clothes that make me feel good about myself. Over the autumn and winter months I've treated myself to some gorgeous tops, and I found a pair of brand new beautiful boots that I bought a few years ago and had totally forgotten about! Before I had children I'd spend most of my disposable income on clothes, shoes and beauty products, so it's not a huge surprise that I have these forgotten boots. In fact, they were just one of about five pairs of unworn shoes and boots I discovered. Whoops!

While it's brilliant finally being able to choose style over practicability again, accessories are still a struggle. J is quite a little monkey and will tug on anything pretty such as a necklace or earrings. It's like when a magpie spots something sparkly, WHOOSH, he has to have it. I got talking to Vicki who is the founder of Bo & Bel on Twitter and she said she'd like to send me one of the teething necklaces from the brand to try.

Bo & Bel features a unique collection of dribble bibs, teething rings and teething jewellery, designed and handmade with the modern mum and baby in mind. The range of teething necklaces are baby-proof but super stylish, and come in beautiful designs and colours. They are made out of 100% food grade silicone, meaning they're safe for little ones to chew on. This makes them great for teething babies and toddlers like J who has just cut two more teeth, including a pesky molar!

I had a tough time choosing one as there are so many gorgeous styles. From soft muted shades and pastel colours, to bolder colours like navy and fuchsia, and even hot-right-now yellow and orange, there is a necklace to match any outfit. After chopping and changing my mind about thirty times, I settled on Enid. Enid has four little cream round beads, four big grey round beads and three pale turquoise flat square beads, all strung on grey satin cord which is knotted at either side of the beads to stop them moving. The necklace has a safe release toggle and it also has a little Bo & Bel tag.

J hasn't really used the necklace to help with teething - he currently prefers to chew on his fingers - however he loves to twiddle the beads while he's nursing. He is still in this wriggly, fidgety stage during feeds, writhing and squirming about, so the necklace helps him stay focused. He also likes to simply play with the soft chunky beads, and I feel happy letting him do so with the reassurance of the safety release toggle.

The teething necklaces from Bo & Bel cost £15.00. Mine arrived in such pretty Bo & Bel packaging and I think it would make such a great gift for a new mum. I love the baker's twine around the box, it's such a sweet finishing touch. Head over to Bo & Bel to find out more and see the others in the range.

Have you got any tips for helping teething toddlers?

  2. I love teething necklaces. I had one for my middle son (not as pretty and colourful as this one) and it really helped - and saved my hair from being pulled!
