…which three items from my home would I want to have with me? That was the question that More Than Home Insurance asked me and at first I thought, “oh, that’s easy”. I’ve been asked the ‘stranded on a desert island’ question many times before, at job interviews or as an icebreaker. The more I thought about it though, the harder it became. I have so many items that are special or that I rely on every single day, how could I possibly choose just three!
I can’t sleep without a cover over me, even when it’s warm. And a desert island is going to be home
to a plethora of bugs and creatures. I’d freak out that they might crawl on me while I sleep. So the first item I’d want from my home if I was stranded on a desert island is my duvet!
Thinking more practically, I wouldn’t survive long without clean water to drink. Or a cup of coffee. I’m going to assume that whoever deserted the island had conveniently rigged up an electricity supply before they left, meaning that I could use my second item, my kettle! I could boil water to make it safe to drink and use it to cook food. And hunt down some coffee beans growing on this imaginary desert island to get my caffeine hit.
Lastly, I’d want my laptop. It’s probably the most important possession in my home because it holds all of my treasured family photos. And with any luck the desert island would have wifi [shhh, it’s my imaginary island!] so I could make contact with the outside world and send for help, hurrah! And blog about it while I waited. [Definitely not cheating!]
Wow, that was way harder than I thought it would be. Which three items would you want from your home if you were stranded on a desert island?
