Hi everyone! It’s Little N here! For the past few weeks I’ve been road-testing a new nappy; I was sent a Jungle Animals nappy from family-run company Freeva. Freeva was started in 2013 by Freya and Eva’s mum and dad, bringing us an awesome range of cloth nappies in adorable prints as well as nappy accessories such as inserts, wetbags and nappy buckets.

freeva nappy

Freeva nappies are reusable pocket cloth nappies. They have a waterproof PUL fabric layer on the outside and a soft suede cloth fabric on the inside. Between these two layers is a pocket, which is where the absorbent insert goes. Each Freeva nappy comes with a super soft microfiber insert but your mum or dad can purchase inserts made from other materials such as bamboo if you prefer. Microfiber is quite good for me during the daytime while bamboo is great at night.

freeva pocket nappy

Mama said that Freeva nappies are what are known as “birth-to-potty” or “one size fits most” nappies. The nappy has poppers on the front so she can adjust the rise as I grow. They should fit babies from 6lbs to 33lbs, literally from birth to potty training. It has soft elastic around the leg cuffs and on the waist, along with the velcro tabs this meant we were able to get an excellent fit. Very important if you want a bombproof nappy! And by bomb, I mean poo.

Mama usually changes my nappy every 2-3 hours, and my Freeva nappy lasted about this long before needing changing too. I’ve not suffered any leaks since trialling this nappy, something mama is always nervous about when trying a new brand, and it is pretty bombproof. I love the cool pictures on this nappy, it is really fun and bright. Most of all I love how soft it feels; both the nappy outer and the insert are super snuggly. This is really important to mama to know that I am confortable in my nappies.

freeva reusable nappy

Mama says washing the nappy was simple, as with all my cloth nappies. She did a prewash before using as this gets rid of any residues left from the manufacturing process which might hinder absorbency. After use, wet nappies are washed at 40 degrees and soiled nappies at 60 degrees. My mama always does a cold rinse first, but ask someone else’s mum and she’ll have a different way of washing! Mama doesn’t tumble-dry my nappies, she line dries as she thinks this is kinder to the materials.

freeva

Freeva nappies cost from just £9.95 which mama said is really good value for money, whatever that means. If that isn’t tempting enough, you can get 5% off by using discount code QUITEFRANKLYSHESAID. There is no expiry date and you can use the code as many times as you like! Head on over to freeva.co.uk to check out their full range of wonderful nappies and accessories.

Fluffy love!

When I was pregnant I became a lot more conscious of my skin and started making a more of an effort to use some sort of body moisturiser each day, especially during the winter months when the cold weather and central heating reeks absolute havoc on my skin. When the weather gets colder I prefer to use something a little richer like this lovely body butter from Seascape.

seascape soothe body butterseascape body butter

The Soothe range from Jersey brand Seascape, has been created for use before, during and after pregnancy to help the skin through the pre- and post-natal period. The range is fragranced with pregnancy-safe essential oils such as lavender, ylang ylang and mandarin. It’s also paraben, silicone, petroleum and SLS free and suitable for vegetarians.

Seascape Soothe Body Butter is made with Jersey beeswax, shea butter, cocoa butter, rosehip seed oil, grape seed oil and sweet almond oil to help reduce stretch marks and repair damaged skin. It’s a thick butter but still quite light meaning it moisturises deeply but absorbs really quickly. I hate waiting around for body lotions to sink in!

I’ve found this body butter leaves my skin feeling really soft and nourished; if only I had known about it when I was pregnant as it would have been a perfect belly butter! The fragrance is calming and relaxing, just what mums and mums-to-be need. It would be lovely as part of a gift for a new mum.

Seascape Soothe Body Butter costs £22.00 for a generous 125ml jar and can be bought here.

I’ve never actually done a tag post before, despite being tagged in them in the past and seeing tag posts on other blogs. I saw this one on another blog and enjoyed reading the answers so thought I’d give it a go.

The-Mummy-Tag

1. Are you a Stay at Home Mum, or a Working Mum?I’m a stay at home mum. I was an accountant before Little N came along but have been at home full time apart from a Saturday job I had for two months before Christmas.

2. Would you have it any other way?Absolutely not. I love being a stay at home mum and always said that this is what I would want to do if I had children. Of course I miss earning my own money and being able to impulse buy anything that caught my eye, but I still wouldn’t swap my life. I love spending every day with my gorgeous little boy. No amount of stuff could make up for the memories.

3. Do you co-sleep?Currently only part of the night. Little N now starts off in his cot and if he wakes in the night I bring him into bed with us. Until he was about 10 months (I think) he slept in our bed the whole night.

4. What is your one must-have item for your baby?My pram which is a Quinny Buzz 3. We live on the outskirts of town so I have a long walk to get anywhere. When N was first born we lived in the centre of town so I could just pop him in a sling!

5. How many kids do you plan on having?I’d love 3, but who knows what the future holds!

6. Date night? How many nights per month?Ermm, we’ve not yet had a date night! I’ve been reluctant to leave N with anyone, I’m sure his difficult birth makes me a bit anxious, but we have a date planned next weekend and hopefully it will become a monthly thing.

7. Your childs favourite show?Until this week N didn’t really watch TV, but I had CBeebies on in the background the other day and it turns out that he really, really loves Balamory. He’s worked out how to go into the recordings and put it on. Pretty impressive for a 15 month old!

8. Name one thing you bought before you had your baby and never ended up using?Soft leather baby shoes. Don’t bother with them!

9. Your child’s favourite food?Pasta with pesto. He also loves crisps, I have to hide if I’m eating them as he’ll bully me into giving them to him.

10. How many cars does your family have? One, but my partner takes it to work. I get use of it about once every two months.

11. Weight gain before pregnancy, during and after and now?I was 8st 9lb when I found out I was pregnant, I put on about 2st during my pregnancy, lost it within 2 weeks of giving birth and currently weigh 8st 4lb.

12. Dream holiday with your kids?Anywhere! I haven’t been on holiday since 2012! I would love to take N to New York.

13. Dream holiday without your kids?I can’t imagine leaving him but I guess a relaxing beach holiday would be amazing, somewhere like Barbados or Hawaii.

14. How has your life changed since your baby has been born?My life has changed completely; the biggest change obviously being that I gave up my job. I’ve also lost old friends, gained new friends, learnt an abundance of new skills, discovered unknown talents, and pretty much found the real me.

15. Finish the sentence: ‘It makes my heart melt to see …’Little N tottering over with his lips pouted, arms held out, going “mmmmmm”. I love his kisses and cuddles!

16. Where do you shop for your kids? For cloths, mostly Next as it’s pretty much the only decent shop in my town for children’s clothes. I do love Frugi as well so occasionally order a few bits from there. N has eczema so his bath and skin creams are prescribed, his wipes are usually from Waitrose. For food he has always eaten the same as us so I don’t buy him specific baby meals, although do get him toddler snacks, like Goodies Organix, from the supermarkets.

17. Favourite makeup and skincare products?I’m a complete product tart so I don’t really stick to any one skincare brand; I quite like Balance Me, Yes To and Neal’s Yard Remedies. For make up I like a mixture; I like Chanel foundation and Lancome mascaras but for everything else it’s whatever catches my eye.

18. Huggies or Pampers?Neither! I use cloth nappies. My partner doesn’t like them though so for his weekly nappy change he uses Sainsbury’s disposable nappies.

19. Have you always wanted kids?
I went through a phase in my early twenties of thinking I would never be capable of being a mother, but deep down I knew it was something I wanted more than anything else in the world.

20. Best part about being a mum?How could I possibly name just one thing! There are so many wonderful things, from the kisses and cuddles, getting to watch this tiny little human grow and learn, the love, the feeling of completeness. I love it all.

I tag: any Mummy who wants to have a go, I’m not going to pressure anyone by tagging them ;)

During the cold winter months my lips always seem to really suffer. I reckon I get through more lip balm during this season that the rest of the year! One that my lips are particularly loving at the moment is Korres Guava Lip Butter.
