TONI & GUY Prep Curl Defining Oil

I’ve been using some TONI & GUY hair products that I received from TONI & GUY Hair Meet Wardrobe – a complete range of haircare and styling products to help you express your personal style. The Curl Defining Oil is from the Prep step of the range.

The oil helps to condition and smooth your curls and prevent frizz. It is used on damp hair either before blow drying or hair can be left to dry naturally. My hair is long and mostly straight but has random kinks and waves; my hair type is not actually the type that this product is aimed at but I thought I would give it a go and see how it could work for me.

I used two pumps of the Curl Defining Oil, combed it through my damp hair then blow dried. The oil has the same fab “professional salon” smell as the rest of the range and the texture is quite interesting, it feels more like a lightweight gel than an oil. I was a little worried that it would feel too heavy on my hair but I really had nothing to worry about.

Despite the fact that this is meant to be a product for curly hair types, this works really well on my hair in place of a blow dry balm. It has left my hair looking and feeling really smooth and conditioned with a great shine. My hair, when left to its own devices, can form loose curls at the end so I thought it might define those but it didn’t.

My hair was simply left looking sleek with a nice bounce. A little serum and hairspray was all I then needed to finish my look. Considering this products isn’t intended for my hair type I’m really impressed! Next time I might try leaving my hair to dry naturally and see what effect it has then.

TONI & GUY Prep Curl Defining Oil comes in a 150ml bottle and can be bought from Boots for £6.39, although I received this product as a sample.

Have you ever discovered a fab hair product by accident?
