Joliebox – September Beauty Box

BING BONG! My September beauty box from Joliebox just arrived and I’m actually pretty happy with what I got this month, so thought I would share with you!

My box this month features various shades of blue instead of the standard Joliebox black. I know last month they had a variety of different coloured boxes and they had different designs for the birthday boxes. I personally love this as I used my boxes for storage and it’s nice to change it up a bit. The products inside the box are contained in a little black drawstring bag that Joliebox have been using for a while now instead of the old shredded paper and tissue combo. These little bags are so handy; I use them for putting make-up or cosmetics when I’m going away (one like this is currently packed in my hospital bag!), I even use one as my kindle case! Versatile or what.

As usual you get a copy of Joliemag which is actually a good little read as well as the Menu card telling you about the products. There is also a leaflet from Boohoo with their picks for A/W 12 as well as a 10% discount code. Nice!

The products this month are fab, I am so pleased with everything I got. The products are themed around London Fashion Week and there are three full-sized products, one deluxe sample and two smaller samples which have been added as an “extra”. Here’s what I got:

Balmi Lip Balm – this is a full-sized product worth £4.99 and I got raspberry flavour. I’ve seen lots of people talk about these lip balms on Twitter and other blogs but I’m not one to go out and buy something just because it’s trendy. That said, I am always happy to try products that I know are being talked about! It contains SPF15, smells super fruity and feels pretty nice on my lips. It also has a little string so you can attach it to something else so you don’t lose it. Will it take place of my beloved Carmex though? That I am not sure of.

Redken Align 12 Protective Straightening Lotion – this is a 30ml deluxe sample sized product; the full-sized product has 150ml and on www.feelunique.com costs £12.90 so I guestimate that this sample is worth £2.58. It’s a best selling lotion which protects, straightens and shields medium hair. I almost always blow dry my hair so this product is ideal for me and perfectly suited to my hair type. It smells gorgeous too, I can’t wait to try it.

I Love… Coconut Face Mask – this is a full-sized 15ml product but no amount of googling will tell me how much it normally costs! I have found that it’s a brand sold in Superdrug and the other products are pretty inexpensive so I think this mask would cost no more than £1. If you know for sure, let me know! This is a moisturising and reviving face mask which says it’s suitable for all skin types but I have noticed that the second and third ingredients are alcohol so if you have sensitive skin it may not be good for you!
Twistband Hair Ties – the box contains two of these hair ties which, from what I can google, are from an American brand. It looks like these are worth roughly £1 each which is a pretty expensive hairband! They are meant to leave your hair bump and kink free. I often wear my hair up in a ponytail or a loose knot for day time so will certainly make use of the red one – the orange one, I think I’ll give to my step-daughter!

Dr Bragi Bio Marine Exfoliant – although these two little samples were added in as an “extra” they were the items I was most excited about! I have heard of Dr Bragi products before, they are used in my friend’s salon, but I have never actually tried them. This exfoliant smoothes, cleanses, brightens and renews tired skin. A full-sized 50ml tube will set you back £25, it looks like these sachets have 1-2ml of product so worth maybe £1. I’m really looking forward to trying this product and if I like it I might actually go and book myself a facial. The Menu card has a code for 20% discount and free P&P which is a nice touch.

So there you have it, my September beauty box from Joliebox. I think it contained a really good mix of products this month and all of them are going to get used so I’m really pleased. Let me know your thoughts. If you got this month’s box I’d love to know if you got a different variety of products!

  2. I've got the balmi raspberry balm on my key ring. I adore it! They're obviously inspired by the EOS spheres, only these feel more moisturizing.
