August Empties

I always love reading Empties posts, particularly Sandra’s as she seems to find such amazing products! So this month I decided to do one too, though I only decided halfway through August to do it so this isn’t a full month’s worth. I still seemed to have finished quite a few products in that time though!

Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite: This is the same bottle that I mentioned back in June – it has lasted ages! I was pretty gutted that it ran out but after using up the other body lotions below I found another bottle of it in my cupboard in a Lush gift set that my brother had got me for my birthday back in April – yay! Of course I will definitely be buying this again.

Wen Sweet Almond Mint Cleansing Conditioner: I got this in the July (I think!) Joliebox beauty box. It’s quite an unusual product, I’ve never heard of a cleansing conditioner before and wasn’t sure if I was meant to use shampoo as well. In the end I used shampoo as well and just applied this like a normal conditioner instead of following the weird instructions. I liked how it made my scalp feel tingly and it did leave my hair feeling well conditioned but I doubt I’ll buy it again.

Phyto Phytovolume Volumizing Shampoo: I’ve blogged about this shampoo before over here, I absolutely love it now I’ve got the knack of not spilling it everywhere (my tip is to pour the shampoo into the lid then pour that on your head). I’ll be buying this again!

Impulse Into Glamour: I haven’t really used body sprays since I was a teenager but recently I have been using them again. They just make me feel fresher on these hot days. I don’t really love this fragrance though, it’s a bit heavy and musky. I won’t buy this again but will buy other fragrances.

Korres Quince Body Butter: I got this ages ago in a Boudoir Prive beauty box and it sat in my cupboard waiting to be used, there were just other products I was drawn to using first. I eventually gave it a go when I was suffering with really dry skin during my second trimester of pregnancy but it didn’t help. I finally used it up after running out of Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite, it’s a rich butter and easily absorbed but I think there are other products that are better. Like Lush Vanilla Dee-Lite!

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Skin Therapy Oil: When you’re pregnant you get all these different packs come through the post full of samples for mum-to-be and baby; one of the samples I got was a little sachet of this oil. It’s actually really nice, it absorbs really well and smells lovely. I’ve recently started using Clarins Tonic Body Treatment Oil so that is going to last me a while, but if it runs out within the next 8 weeks (when baby is due!) I will definitely pick up a bottle of the Skin Therapy Oil as from looking at the ingredients list it’s not full of cheap mineral oils.

Lancome Genefique Yeux: This little 5ml tub came in the Selfridges Advent Calendar. It’s a lovely gel-cream that sinks in really quickly. This tub has lasted months, you only need a tiny dab per eye. I would like to buy this again but now I’m on maternity leave I don’t have as much free cash so I’ll probably end up buying a cheaper alternative. Which is a shame because I really like it.

Boots Time Delay Wrinkle Prevention Day Moisturiser: Before you start saying to yourself “pfft I don’t need to use anti-wrinkle creams, I have no wrinkles”, just remind yourself of the key words here: anti-wrinkle, prevention. There’s no point using a preventative product once you’ve got lines and wrinkles. I learnt at college that the body starts to age at around 25 so I’ve been using anti-aging day creams since I was in my early twenties. I’m now 30 but no one ever believes me. Anyway, back to this moisturiser. I don’t often buy moisturiser anymore as I often get them in beauty boxes, on the rare occasion that I run out I just pop into Boots and grab whatever is on offer. This absorbs well and leaves my skin feeling smooth and moisturised, I’d buy it again.

Tropic Skin Revive Firming Nourishing Cream: This is another product that I received in a Joliebox beauty box, I think this came in April’s one. I hated this! It felt so nice on my skin but the smell is so strong and overpowering it made me feel sick! I won’t be buying it!

Lush Charity Pot Hand & Body Lotion: I bought this for £1 at the till in a Lush store. It’s okay, it makes your skin feel soft and the little tin is handy to put in your handbag but I don’t love it. I wouldn’t buy this as I’d be too busy buying Vanilla Dee-Lite!

Essential Care Organic Rose Moisturiser: Another Joliebox beauty box product, I think this came in the May box. See, I told you I rarely have to buy face creams! I really didn’t like this product. It says it’s for all skin types but on my combination skin it just wasn’t moisturising enough. I had to apply it, let it absorb and then apply again because my skin just felt so taut. I won’t buy this.

Caudalie Nourishing Body Lotion: I got this in a Feel Unique beauty box which shows you how long it’s been waiting to be used! It’s really good, it has a great scent and is really rich but absorbs super quick. I would buy this again.

Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm: I got this in a Joliebox beauty box (April?) and adore it, this product actually made me look forward to cleansing my face at night! I blogged about it here. I love it, I’ll be buying it again!

So there you go, my August Empties! Have you used any of these products and would you buy them again?

  1. I've tried to use again aging for years and people don't believe me when I tell them I'm younger than my 30 years. Surely thats the best advertisement there is?! x

  4. I have a few KORRES body butters laying around but I don't like how they are called "butters" when they are actually more of a lotion to me. They aren't the most moisturizing I've tried though, which is a bit disappointing for the price! Nothing beats The Body Shop Body Butters in my pinion though!
